Munn Park Historic District encompasses much of the downtown district and contains a variety of buildings. The oldest structures, some dating back to 1875, are found on Pine Street and North Kentucky Avenue. In the Town Square, which runs along East Main Street, many of the buildings were built between 1910 and 1920. From there, visitors can see the many buildings erected during the Florida Boom (1920-1930), many of which are found on South Florida, South Kentucky and South Massachusetts avenues. Lake Morton Historic District surrounds the east and south portions of Lake Morton in Lakeland. Inside this area are numerous examples of Mediterranean-style homes dating back to the building boom of the early 1900s to the 1920s. Also in the district is the Polk Museum of Art, numerous parks and picnic areas and a collection of Frank Lloyd Wright buildings at the Florida Southern College.
